What do you actually need to know as your parents get older?

At some point, the roles start to shift.

Maybe you’re helping with medications. Maybe you’re noticing changes in mobility, memory, or everyday routines. Maybe your parents are doing just fine—but you’re starting to wonder what you should be thinking about before something becomes urgent.

Most of us were never taught how to navigate this part. You don’t need a crisis to start learning.

Join us for a practical, compassionate conversation about what comes next—and how a little preparation now can make a difference later.

What can you do now to prepare for what’s ahead?

Bodies, minds, and abilities change as we age. And when those changes happen to the people who raised us, adult children can suddenly find themselves navigating unfamiliar territory.

Parenting Your Parents: Navigating the Next Chapter offers an approachable overview of how the body changes as we age—and what those changes can mean for everyday life.

Pharmacist and patient navigator Lauren Von Dollen will guide you through topics worth understanding and conversations worth having, while offering practical guidance on making a plan.

We’ll explore:

  • How our bodies and abilities change as we age
  • What those changes can mean for everyday life
  • Practical considerations for maintaining quality of life
  • Small shifts and decisions that can make a difference later
  • What adult children can think about and plan for now
  • Questions worth asking before a situation becomes urgent

And there will be plenty of time for your questions.

All workshop materials are included with admission.

You don’t have to have all the answers.

This isn’t about predicting exactly what the future will look like.

It’s about being a little more prepared for it.

Whether your parents are beginning to need more support, you’re already helping them navigate changes, or you’re simply realizing that someday you’ll need to know what to do, this workshop is an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and start thinking ahead.

Come with questions. Leave with information, resources, and a place to start.

Meet Your Instructor

Lauren Von Dollen is a pharmacist and patient navigator with nearly two decades of experience helping people navigate the practical realities of healthcare. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with patients and families, giving her a firsthand understanding of the questions, challenges, and decisions that can arise as we age.

Lauren is particularly passionate about helping older adults and their families prepare for the changes that come with aging—before those changes become a crisis. She brings a practical, compassionate perspective to conversations about medications, changing abilities, quality of life, and the small decisions families can make today to make tomorrow easier.

In “Parenting Your Parents: Navigating the Next Chapter,” Lauren draws on her professional experience and her love of working with people of “esteemed age” to help families better understand what to expect, what questions to ask, and how to begin planning for the future. Her goal is to replace some of the uncertainty and overwhelm that can accompany caring for aging parents with practical information, thoughtful preparation, and a plan.
